“Dr. Bryce” has been treating kids for nearly ten years in the dental office. His experience with children shows as he helps them get through the dental procedures. He understands that each child is unique and responds differently to the whole dental experience.
He was raised in Papillion, Nebraska, graduated from Brigham Young University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in theater studies, and moved to Cleveland shortly thereafter. In 2011, he graduated from dental school at Case Western Reserve University.
Every child needs to develop healthy dental hygiene skills, and several studies have shown that people who kick off their early years with healthy oral habits will continue to have healthier habits later in life. Adults who had good dental habits as children have more confidence later in life, and they also experience fewer issues with their teeth than children who lacked good dental habits.
The reason why you may consider a fluoride treatment is because if you’re losing fluoride quicker than you are taking it in, you’re likely going to be at risk for tooth decay. Fluoride works to help prevent tooth decay by defending against acid attacks caused by sugars and plaque bacteria in your mouth. Fluoride can also reverse tooth decay.
Digital X-rays offer countless improvements over the results of traditional X-rays. After the sensor has taken an image of your teeth, it is instantly projected onto the office screen where your dentist can view it.
Our children are bold and adventurous and as their parent, you’re bound to end up with an emergency at some point, whether it’s a sprained arm or a bumped head. But, when a dental emergency occurs,
Your dentist will have professional tools and specialized knowledge, meaning they will look for things you may not know about or be able to see without a good light and tools in hand. A dentist will be able to check for early signs of decay, and the hygienist will also give a deeper cleaning than at-home brushing allows for.
During your child’s back-to-school dental visit, the dentist is likely to take X-rays to see how your child’s teeth are developing. They’ll also use this as an opportunity to look at the roots of your child’s tooth and make sure they are healthy.
Just like with their permanent teeth that will arrive later, your baby’s first teeth need to be brushed and cleaned regularly. Keeping your child’s first teeth in healthy condition is essential to a healthy smile later in life.
Dental sealants are used to protect the chewing surface of teeth from decay. They are used on the surface of the permanent back teeth, the premolars and molars, to help protect these teeth from decay that will occur from chewing and eating food regularly.
If your child damages a tooth, a dental restoration may be used to restore their smile. Dental bonding and dental crowns are the two most common kinds of dental restorations. Bonding is used for minor chips and cracks while crowns are used when a good deal of the tooth’s enamel is missing, like with a tooth infection or decay.
Having an active lifestyle is excellent for your child’s health, but when it comes to your child’s oral health, it’s important that you take the necessary steps to protecting their teeth–especially when they are out on the field.
